That's when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black-and things really start getting ugly. Chicago's mayor insists it's nothing to worry about, but Merit knows only the darkest magic could have woven a spell powerful enough to change the very fabric of nature. She'll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who's behind this, and stop them before it's too late for vampires and humans alike.
Drink Deep is the fifth book in Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill. This is hands down my favorite vampire series, and Merit is one of the most kick-ass heroines ever. Drink Deep will be released on November 1, 2011, and I am so freakin' excited to see what will happen next. As part of the Drink Deep blog tour, I have gotten an interview with Mallory Charmichael, sorceress and Merit's best friend.
Nina: With your love of all things paranormal, were you happy to find out that you are a sorceress?
Mallory: I wouldn't exactly say "happy." I mean, I am what I am, and I guess there's no point in complaining about something I'm already shoulder-deep in, but it definitely wasn't something I handled very well. I'm woman enough to admit that.
Nina: If you could have gone back to the days before you found out about your powers, and before Merit was turned, would you?
Mallory: *Thinking* Honestly, I don't know. According to the Order, I'd already had some of my powers even when I was young, I just didn't know about them. And I wouldn't have met Catcher, which I can't even think about. But life would be simpler, wouldn't it?
Nina: How do you feel about working for the Order in the future, without much choice of your own?
Mallory: I definitely don't have the feelings Catcher has about them. He hates them, because he thinks they're naive and that they didn't handle his issues very well. They've been okay for me so far, I guess, but who knows what the future will hold. I haven't really found that the folks in charge of things are ever really all that good at it.
Nina: Can you tell us something surprising about Merit from your days as roommates?
Mallory: I guess you already know she likes chocolate? *grin* I will say she snores like a lumberjack. A giant, hulking lumberjack. But don't tell her I said that! Thanks for having me today!
