Is it possible to fall in love after death?
Amelia is dead and she is having nightmares while she is awake. Her nightmares evolves around her death; drowning in the river. Amelia has no other memories of her past life. One day when Amelia relives the nightmare of her death another person is drowning in the river. Joshua had a car accident and drove off the High Bridge. Amelia cannot help the boy in any way, she is after all a ghost, but somehow she manages to get Joshua to save himself from drowning. A strange bond forms between the two, but they have powerful enemies but in the afterlife and in the real world.
My thoughts:
Here I go again starting a review in just the same way as quite a few other reviews I've written so far this year.. Yet again I managed to get disappointed, in Hereafter Amelia and Joshua fall instantly in love. I need an exceptionally good story to believe in this kind of love at first sight. It doesn't feel quite right to me. If I were to meet a handsome boy who just happened to be a ghost my initial reaction would be fear not love.
Apart from my usual complaint about the love story I very much enjoyed Amelia as a ghost. She wasn't your ordinary haunting ghost looking for revenge over her murderer. Amelia was lost, she was confused. Herafter was an original take on a ghosts' story. There was a ghost bad guy in this story as well, Eli, he was a scary kind of guy but I felt his role could have been more involved in the story from the get go.
I would like to see what kind of adventure author Tara Hudson takes Amelia and Joshua on next. I would also love to know more about Amelia's family; I felt there was a mystery to be solved there.

This book can be purchased from a number of local retailers and on-line book stores such as Amazon or The Book Depository (I'm not an affiliate of either). The latter store does by the way have free shipping to about 100 countries.
